Welcome

Welcome to my personal website

I am currently a Research Fellow with the RMIT Blockchain Innovation Hub and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society. I’m interested in the political and economic implications and possibilities of new technologies; particularly in the areas of blockchain and cryptocurrency, privacy and surveillance, and artificial intelligence and automation. My current work is focused on empirical mapping and analysis of automated decision-making and algorithmic governance in the economy and society. I have broad research experience—both advising clients in the public and private sectors in my previous role as Project Director of Data Science at Roy Morgan Research, and having worked in university departments, research institutes, and think tanks over many years. If you have any questions about my research, teaching, or other scholarly activities, please feel free to contact me.

“To act on the belief that we possess the knowledge and the power which enable us to shape the processes of society entirely to our liking, knowledge which in fact we do not possess, is likely to make us do much harm.”

F.A. Hayek, The Pretence of Knowledge
